Bad relationship
Have you ever had a friend, a close friend, who is dating someone you don't like? And no matter how many times you tell them "(S)he's wrong for you," they just don't listen?
Even though you know the relationship is a mistake, and even though you imagine that even they have to know you're right?
That's how I feel about the Indians and Casey Blake. The Indians are close to signing Eduardo Perez to a one year deal, but he is expected to platoon with Ben Broussard.
Blake will likely still play 145 games in right field, even if he can't hit over .100 with runners in scoring position and misses the cutoff man on every throw.
Basically, the Indians are married to Blake. He's never going away, no matter how mediocre he is.
And that is so depressing for this Indians fan.

Don't count your hatchlings just yet. The Plain Dealer reported over the weekend that the Indians might add an outfielder during spring training, depending on the trade market.
The problem is who the Indians might have to give up. We know they guard their farm system like Fort Knox, and other teams are going to want top prospects like Fausto Carmona, Jeremy Sowers and Ryan Garko for a veteran outfielder.
I don't think Mark Shapiro wants Casey Blake in right field next year. But as we all know, the Indians keep losing the money battle in free agency.

This new Tribe TV network had better make the Indians more financially competitive, or they will lose Shapiro in a couple of years. He's too talented a GM to keeping putting up with this threadbare-pocket crap.
