Lerner, Collins
If Phil Savage is let go, most will blame president John Collins. But where is Randy Lerner? He's the owner. He writes the checks. He needs to know that what matters is putting a winning team on the field. Does he really believe Collins is more important to that process than Savage?
I heard Jim Brown on the radio a while ago talking about Phil needing "help" in contract negotiations.
So Savage doesn't like that, and he's out. Well, wait a minute. This is Savage's first general manager job. The Browns are way below the salary cap. How could a mistake in Savage's first season be worthy of his termination?
By the way, where is Romeo Crennel in all this? If I were him, I'd resign and wait for a better coaching situation than this chaotic mess.
