On Martinez
OK, here's the deal with Victor.
He's a core guy and he certainly needs at-bats. But at the same time, Eric Wedge has been reluctant to move him from the three or four spot.
The bottom line is that a third of the tribe lineup has been under .220. Martinez is the future; just not a current No. 3 hitter.

I don't know why Wedge jostled the lineup at the outset of the season to begin with. Martinez excelled as the cleanup hitter last year, with Hafner in front. Wedge flipped the two, and the results.. well, you see them.
That's not to say Martinez and Hafner would be all-stars if Wedge had just let things be, but the combo of Hafner third, Martinez fourth, just seemed to work last year. Unfortunately, those guys are too far gone, confidence-wise, to repeat that this year.
