756
Barry Bonds has just set a record for career home runs, hitting his 756th at home against the Nationals. I've decided to give this achievement all the attention it deserves.

While I think there is little doubt Bonds was artificially aided in getting to 756 homers, to simply throw the record, and the moment, away as garbage is going too far in the other direction.

Bonds is a superlative talent. It's not like he was going to hit 400 career homers without the aid of steroids. He was still going to get 600 or more.

And given how utterly ignorant Bud Selig and his cronies were about steroids until two years ago, what can you do besides appreciate last night for what it was?

It was a flawed record set by a flawed player in a sport with flawed management. Since I don't have the patience or desire to sort it all out, I'm just going to take it for what it is, and appreciate the fact that I tuned in last night just in time to witness a piece of history.

...Also, I once met Mike Bacsik when he played for the Indians, which is kind of cool.
