This is the scenario that none of us wants to face, because it is just too painful. But it is a real possibility, and an outcome we should be willing to accept, because it is an outcome we as fans cannot control.<br /><br />It might be another 70 to 100 years before the population of the Cleveland area has atrophied to the point that it can no longer support major league pro sports. So the timeline is not infinite. By 2109, Cleveland could be a city of 75,000 and a metropolitan area of 500,000. Maybe not, but that's where things are trending. And if that's the case, this will be a minor league town.<br /><br />I think it's time to stop with the depression and desperation as a fan base. None of us are entitled to a championship, and indeed none of us may ever see one.<br /><br />If it's not our fault, we shouldn't treat it as our cross to bear. If that's the way things shake out, it's just a fact of life. A hard fact to swallow, but a fact nonetheless. You can't always get what you want.Eriknoreply@blogger.com
